Bluebonnets at Lake Whitney, Texas

Description

AAAhhh, Lake Whitney. In reality, it looked like a Monet painting. We travelled to Texas, to the Hill Country, so that I could see and paint the bluebonnets. Well, I got an eyeful. When we arrived at this place, I really couldn't believe it. The field was actually full of bluebonnets. It was so beautiful, I had never seen anything like this. I proceeded to paint this en plein air. I sat up my easel, paper and watercolor paints and painted large in the hot sun. There was a wonderful breeze that leaned the grasses over until they looked like silk. I was in my glory being in this environment. As I painted, I noticed there were several ant hills nearby. When I got up, I managed to skirt those carefully with no problem. When I look at this painting, it still takes me back there.
