I went to the Farmers Market on Wolf Pen Branch Road, off US Highway 42. I saw these beautiful Bermuda onions. I had an idea of what I wanted to paint, but the tops were cut off. I asked the lady if she had these red onions with the tops on. She said she could bring some to me the following week. So I went back later and bought them from her. As I painted these in watercolor, I decided to keep the background vibrant and the plate white, so that the viewer could really see the design of the onions with all of their roots!
