Description
We went to Sonoma, California, wine country, a few years ago. I am always interested in what the towns look like and want to see their historic buildings. I saw this old Mission and took photos. At that time, I had been painting in black and white. I thought this scene lent itself to a black and white watercolor painting. I really enjoyed painting this Mission. I found out how important the Missions were to establishing this state. They brought Christianity, but also supplies to the people.
