Description
I was chosen to paint en plein air for an outdoor garden party in Crestwood. This was a fundraiser for the AAOC. There were many scenes to choose from, but I was really drawn to this bronze statue of a young boy and girl reading in the garden under the big maple tree. As I proceeded to paint, people came up to visit with me and inquire about the painting. Bob Hill, from Hidden Hill Nursery & Sculpture Garden in Utica, Indiana, interviewed me, as he was giving a garden tour that afternoon in the Crestwood Gardens. As I painted, I mixed the "bronze" color for the figures, but as I was applying the paint, I realized, I must add more color! It really gave the figures life! A gentleman who stopped by to see my work also made a connection with the figures. Later, at the end of the afternoon, there was a drawing for my painting and he was the one who won! It was very exciting.
