What attracted me to this subject matter was how the roots were holding on tenaciously. Although some of the Earth had washed away, the roots had spread out and become stronger, which is so symbolic to our own lives in that when life calls for us to adapt, adaptation is necessary and we refer to our roots for strength.
The light coming through the roots delivers beauty and hope, and is uplifting to the viewer. This piece is of mixed media, and includes techniques of both watercolor and calligraphy pen.
My son said he loved this painting and it reminded him of the Tree of Life from the movie Avatar that was released in 2009, and was a revolutionary feat in the world of CGI and high-definition films.
