Description
When I decided to paint this coconut palm tree, I told myself, I must do something different! First of all, I liked the upward view. Then I decided to paint it on gesso and try something new. I laid in my foundation colors in the background, slung some water, slung some paint and let it dry. Then I decided to draw in the palm tree in watercolor crayon. My intention was to paint the fronds afterwards, but I liked the calligraphy so much that I decided to leave it for effect. I did paint the tree and then did some more "drawing with the crayon" and wiped out some highlights. After I painted it, I discovered a blue hand in it.
