Description
This was a commissioned painting. When my client approached me, there was no subject matter, no color, nothing, I had to invent it. After quite a bit of discussion to find out what she liked, what her husband liked and what would match the colors in her house, I came up with this courtyard in New Orleans. I had actually stayed at this hotel, The French Market Inn and thought the courtyard was unique and charming, it had a peacefulness to it that I loved. I painted it in her colors, changing some of the original colors to make it more interesting and inviting - a place where one would want to read the morning paper, have their coffee or read a good book.
