We drove to Crestwood, Kentucky one Sunday afternoon, on a sunny summer day. I spotted this hawk on a telephone wire. Luckily, there was a road for us to turn in on and I took some pictures. He was eyeing me cautiously. There were some lines in my way and I really couldn't get a good view. He then flew away. We followed him. He landed on top of a telephone pole in full view. I got the picture I wanted! Talk about "hawkeye", there it is. I painted him in those beautiful Daniel Smith colors, which were perfect for his feathers in the rich sun.
