Oh, the hardships of life. When I saw this lady, my heart went out to her. Carrying water on her back, without water she would die. Surviving is even harder. Her strength is her beauty. She seemed elegant even in her struggles, but so determined. I wanted to paint her in beautiful colors, because to me, she was beautiful because of her effort. I put this painting in the Project Women Art Show and it sold immediately. Project Women is currently known as the Family Scholar House. They are committed to helping homeless mothers get a college education and stop the cycle of poverty.
