Description

I was painting in Jeffersonville, Indiana, one Sunday afternoon, looking at Louisville. It was rather quiet, then all of a sudden I looked out the window and here come all these sailboats, drifting down the Ohio River. It was so cool and exciting. I had never seen sailboats on the Ohio River like that!  I always see tugboats though. The Gail Ann, I had seen many times. I really wanted to capture what the Ohio River is all about. Fun and work. The barges bring us our supplies, coal for electricity and other things. Sundays are meant for relaxation...thus sailing. I really liked St. Joseph’s steeples in the background. Louisville is such a large Catholic community with numerous beautiful old churches.
