One evening we went to Captains Quarters for dinner. As we were finishing up and the sun was setting, along came these sailboats. They, too, were finishing up their regatta. It was a very beautiful scene in Kentucky on the Ohio River!
They had had a sailboat regatta! I quickly got my camera and proceeded to photograph these boats that were backlit by the sun. It really was a thrill to capture this moment on film. I couldn't wait to paint this scene.
